On 180,000 m2 of exhibition space, BAU will be presenting a display of architecture, materials and systems for commercial and residential construction and interior design, for both new-build and R&M projects. This next edition of the show, which takes place in Munich from January 19 to 24, 2015, will again be filling up all the available halls at the exhibition center. Here around 2,000 exhibitors from approximately 40 countries will be showcasing a comprehensive range of materials and technologies for planning and construction. Gathered together under the heading of the "Skilled Trades Meeting Point" is an extensive range of information and services for members of the skilled trades.
BAU brings together all the technologies, products and materials that are used in planning and building. This cross-functionality approach makes BAU an essential information source for everyone involved in planning and building: from investors, planners and architects through to skilled tradesmen and facility managers.
Messe München International, the organizer of BAU, expects over 230,000 visitors to attend the event, among them again around 60,000 from abroad. And although BAU is the world´s leading trade fair for architecture, its basis is still very much the skilled trades that make up the building sector. Almost 40 percent of the visitors come from the building trades, spanning the entire spectrum from roofers to tilers.
As a way of reaching out specifically to the members of those skilled trades, BAU
has for some years featured the "Skilled Trades Meeting Point". Gathered together here is the offering and the services targeted at this group of visitors.
§ In the "Forum Skilled Trades Meeting Point" in Hall B0 experts will be passing on tips and advice to help with day-to-day building work. The
themes cover a broad range, e.g. IT for building professionals, building valuation, thermal insulation, modern heating technology – there´s bound to be something for everybody.
§ Themed tours of the show for the skilled trades are being organized to give a rapid overview of the highlights from among the extensive array of products and services showcased by the exhibitors at BAU. The tours focus on the themes of wood, innovative insulation materials, IT, and doors, windows, fittings. The starting point for each tour is the stand of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB – Zentralverband Deutsches Baugewerbe) at the East Entrance (January 21 and 22, at 13:00 and 16:00 each day).
§ New this year is the "Skilled Trades Stammtisch". In a cooperation between the Konradin Mediengruppe and the ZDB a series of chaired panel discussions will be taking place from Tuesday to Friday, starting each day at 11:00. The themes currently being planned include: Thermal insulation – still a hot potato (January 20); Encouraging young talent and attracting skilled workers (January 21); Construction defects – Cooperation on site (January 22), and; Sufficiency in the building culture – lasting quality instead of doubtful quantity (January 23).
§ In 2015 the national team of the German construction industry will again be setting up a training camp at BAU. Visitors can watch the team train each day at the East Entrance and perhaps pick up one or two useful tips from them. The training camp is being organized by the ZDB.
What does BAU stand for? Its key features are quality, internationality, innovations strength and a solutions-oriented approach. And, most importantly: BAU is a business platform, where exhibitors and visitors come to do business. Often they discuss specific projects, and many visitors come along with plans of what they intend to build.
BAU is also a platform for premieres. Exhibitors gear their new product development to the event cycle of BAU. Product innovations – in windows, doors, floor coverings and new facade elements, for example – are presented first at BAU. That is another reason why trade professionals from every continent come to BAU in Munich every two years.
BAU, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials and Systems, is the biggest and most important event in the sector. The next BAU takes place from January 19 to 24, 2015 at the Messe München exhibition center. Around 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and over 235,000 visitors from all around the world are expected to attend.
On display at BAU on 180,000 square meters of exhibition space – for years all the available space has been fully booked – are architectural solutions, materials and systems for commercial and residential construction and interiors, for both new-build and renovation and modernization. Every two years this event brings together market leaders from the sector to participate in a unique international display of competence spanning all the construction trades.
BAU is also the world´s largest trade fair for architects and construction engineers, attracting more than 60,000 design professionals. The exhibits at the fair are organized according to building material and also product and theme areas.
The many attractive events in the supporting program, among them high-caliber forums with experts from all over the world, round off this industry showcase.
